Relaxation

Yoga relaxation practice combines awareness of different parts of your body, your breath, arising thoughts and visualisation. The practice of yoga nidra (psychic sleep), often used in my classes, is an ancient and systematic method of relaxation designed to release physical, mental and emotional tensions. The accumulation of tensions at all levels, common in the western world, are recognised in yoga as the cause of chronic fatigue and unalleviated stress is instrumental in the cause of ill-health. The skill of relaxation is therefore recognised as equally essential in yoga to maintain well-being in the healthy person whilst assisting the body to heal itself in periods of sickness.
