"I was amazed at the gentleness of it, and the way you were led into it, and I was amazed about some of the things I could do that I thought I couldn't do before." Participant

I teach gentle and progressive hatha yoga within the framework of integral yoga. I respect the original Eastern tradition of yoga and bring this into the class situation through a range of classic practices including mudra (psychic gestures); bandha (muscular locks); breath awareness; yoga nidra (relaxation); antar mouna (inner silence) and other techniques. I developed these practices through my study of Satyananda Yoga and time at Mandala Yoga Ashram where I lived as a resident and Yoga teacher, under the direct guidance of Swami Nishchalananda, for two years during a sabbatical from the NHS.
I commenced a subtle form of Kriya Yoga following a meeting with Swami Satyananda in the early 80's. Dhyana yoga (meditation); mantra yoga (repetition of sound); karma yoga (work with awareness) and raja yoga (yoga sutras of Patanjali) in addition to hatha yoga are central to my own yoga practice.
